Pet and Service Animals Policy

The New Jersey Festival of Ballooning DOES NOT allow pets into the festival nor onto the festival grounds. We kindly ask you to leave your pets at home while you come and enjoy the magic of ballooning with us this July. However, trained service animals are welcome at our festival.

Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Examples of such work or tasks include guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheelchair, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medications, calming a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack, or performing other duties. Service animals are working animals, not pets. The work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person’s disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional
support do not qualify as service animals. Miniature horses that have been individually trained to do or perform tasks for people with disabilities will qualify as service animals.

Service animals must be house broken and remain on a leash or harness and under the control of their handler at all times. Service animals must also have proper identification so that festival staff
members and other guests can clearly identify them as service animals and not pets. Guests whose service animal demonstrates aggressive and/or annoying actions toward a Guest or festival staff member will be directed to remove the animal from the festival grounds.

Service animals are welcome in most locations of the festival. However, service animals are not permitted to ride in hot air balloons or on any of the amusement rides. Therefore, a member of your party must be available to stay with the animal while you ride. Festival staff will not take responsibility for, or provide care to any service animal. Owners are responsible for disposing of their animal’s waste.

If you have any questions, please contact our office at 973-882-5464.
